As I have done quite a bit of research, I've decided to start planning characters backstories and what they're going to be like.
I began with filling in a Character Template which I found from The Ultimate Guide to Video Game Writing and Design by Flint Dille & John Zuur Platten.
Although I haven't filled in all of the gaps, It's a good start. I also started coming up with a backstory which was easier to do since I had designed the town that she comes from.
She is one of the 15% to be born with the ability to use magic, but living in a town where magic is banned and punishable by death, she has spent all her life hiding it.
I was thinking that she could join the "Mage Execution Order" (name subject to change), in order to both hide her magic and secretly help magic users get away to a "safe" space deep in the woods.
Colour Scheme
Using my knowledge of semiotics, I think purples would be a good colour scheme for The Sorceress. This is because we tend to associate purple with magic. Why is this?
Purple was traditionally associated with the rich and powerful - originally royalty. This was because of the rare nature and inordinate expense of the dyes used to produce the colour. Over time the color’s associations widened to include anything special and powerful, such as magic and the mystical.
Maybe her entire outfit could be hues of purple or maybe just her hair. I could make the gems she wears, if she wears gems, glistening purple.
