For this research series, I am going to be looking at pre-exsisting characters and analyisng their appearance and personality. I'm starting off with rogue characters.

Ezio Auditore da Firenze - Assassin's Creed

The Assassin's Creed franchise shows a centuries-old struggle with the Assassins, who fight for free will and peace, against the Templars, who believe peace comes through control of humans. The series features its own historical fiction mixed with real-world historic events and people.

Ezio Auditore da Firenze was a Florentine nobleman during the Renaissance and the Mentor of the Italian Brotherhood of Assassins. (this is not real life, this is history of assassin's creed)

I will be disussing the three robes that Ezio wears during the games he takes place in.

Giovanni's robes

These standard robes were worn over Ezio's normal clothing. The upper body has a hood with the center made to look like an eagle's beak, which is connected to the robes, with the top showing an open collar.

The lower part of the robes were twice layered, with the back of them reaching down to be slightly longer than the front of the robes. The waist belt has a thick red sash with pouches attached to a belt, which holds smoke bombs, poison, bullets and medicine vials. The belt also has scabbards holding throwing knives. A leather spaulder is featured also where a cape was attached, draped over and around Ezio's left arm and shoulder.

Roman robes

These robes are very similar to his first set of robes.

Ezio's Roman robes showed similarities between Giovanni's robes in its design, as they had a long, layered lower section, although they maintained the open collared torso similar to Giovanni's robes, and included a closed collar beneath. The hood shape from the previous robes had been kept as well, along with the wide, red sash displaying the Assassin's crest and the function of carrying Ezio's throwing knives. The pouches also remained. The robes also continued to feature the cape over Ezio's left arm and shoulder with a leather spaulder.

Pilgrimage robes

His third set of robes were designed for traveling to Masyaf. Unlike his previous outfits, they were largely gray in color, rather than the usual Assassin white, and had a gray-white fur padding on the left shoulder and under both bracers, as opposed to the leather his previous outfits had. Ezio chose to wear a dark blue scarf around his neck to protect himself from the extreme weather.

The robes also bore the Assassin crest and a small, adorned buckle in a shape of diamond, which connected the belts which crossed over his chest.

The throwing knives and pouches also remain.

Personaility

Ezio came from a wealthy background and had many friends until the assassinations of his father and brothers, which drove him out of Florence, his home. He became an assassin to get revenge on the conspirators who had betrayed his family.

He first could not control his emotions, and had a lot of anger inside him, but by the time he had become a master assassin he had control of his emotions almost completely.

Ezio is loyal to the people closest to him. He enjoys time by himself. He is quiet, adaptable, reflective and idealistic. Usually laid back unless a value is threatened.

Final thoughts:

Ezio's many different robes all have one thing in common; functionality. The hood is there to disguise his face when assassinating/stealing, and there are plenty of pouches to store his smoke bombs, poison, bullets, throwing knives, and medicine vials. The robes a very practical and well thought out. The reasoning behind Ezio becoming an assassin is understandable and it it clear he had many emotions and wanted revenge.
