Mage Character Analysis: Mannimarco

Continuing with the mage character analysis, I am going to be analysing Mannimarco from The Elder Scrolls Universe.

Mannimarco is the main antoganist of the game Elder Scrolls Online, though he also made appearances in Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. He was a Altmer (High Elf) necromancer and the leader of the Order Of The Black Worm.

Appearance

Mannimarco is of Altmer )high elf) descent with white hair and golden eyes.

Throughout Elder Scrolls Online, he wears a robe like attire with added metal pauldrons on his shoulders alongside a chest plate with a mysterious purple gem centred in the middle. He also wears a crown with what appears to be the same purple gem centred in the middle. There are a lot of triangles and sharp edges to Mannimarco, with everything from his villan shaped face to the spikes on his pauldrons, bracers and waist band.

If that didn't scream "BAD GUY" enough for you, his staff has what appears to be a human skull on it, encased with more spiked shapes.

Personality/skills

Complete sociopath and narcissist. Truly evil. Power-hungry. God wannabe.

His skills are in necromancy, hypnosis, he can summon powerful Daedra, master of illusion and complete mastery over the Arcane Arts.

Conclusion

Its very clear that he is a villan. It's clear that the designers of this character knew what they were doing and though about semiotics a lot. He has mage robe style attire but with added amour over top. As the character I am designing will not be evil, in fact the complete opposite, I will make sure to use soft shapes rather than sharp shapes to truly get across that my character is good.

I think the small purple details work well as we tend to associate purple with magic or mystical things, which gets across that he is some sort of magic user.
